Check Out Story on The Hash
Legalizing cannabis has opened doors to numerous cannabis options, especially for Americans living in the legalized states. In addition, having access to medical and adult-use marijuana gives them an advantage over other Americans.
They can select from a wide array ranging from natural plant medicine, synthetic over-the-counter products to prescription medication. They also enjoy the luxury of delivery services and multiple varieties and strains to buy, such as flowers, edibles, topicals, beverages, concentrates, tinctures, and more.
The cannabis industry is thriving in the states, with hundreds of millions of dollars exchanging hands. The only thing we could say is missing in the cannabis industry of the United States is the connection to the marijuana culture.
Cannabis dispensaries are popping up in the states with a wide range of marijuana products for its buyers. However, while they purport to support the patient, their prices speak a different language. Paying $10 grams or crusty dry weed without flavor or potency does not sound fair to the patients.
However, we have dispensaries that pride themselves in good quality products, but the prices are still ridiculously high. With marijuana legalization, one would assume that the costs would be more pocket-friendly.
On the contrary, people still find themselves paying prohibition prices. This is mainly to adhere to all the taxes imposed and make up for the high costs of license fees business owners have to pay to run the business.
Don't forget the HASH!
One of the most popular ways to consume cannabis has to be cannabis concentrates. Compared to the last year, the sale of cannabis concentrates has soared 40%, and this is a clear indication that consumer trends have shifted towards the more potent forms of cannabis.
Before, a wide range of cannabis concentrates run the show. They included crumble, wax, diamond, shatter, sauce, among many others. However, the one form of cannabis concentrate that ruled back in the day was Hashish, commonly referred to as Hash.
Those fortunate enough to have indulged in this old school treat have fond memories of Hash on needlepoint, a piece of cardboard under a glass cup placed on the table or countertop. Those that did not smoke Hash like this had little hash pipes that were popular and sold as keychains in the 70s and 80s. Others were fortunate enough to enjoy their Hash by the bowls, hookah, or bongs.
It was the best concentrate and was available in different varieties, and the most popular ones were Moroccan and Blond Lebanese.
Hash as a versatile concentrate
Hash was a very versatile concentrate and could be enjoyed in different ways. It could be smoked from a bong or rolled up into a joint. No special rigs ,e-nails, or torches were required to enjoy Hash. It was basically a concentration of cannabis trichomes and had a unique flavor most people describe as one out of the world.
Processing Hash involved a variety of processes. The techniques involved in collecting cannabis trichomes apply pressure and heat to produce a brick or block of Hash. There are Different methods used in its production and they result in different varieties of Hash.
Not every hash product is produced under heat. The cold water technique is used to produce some; bare hands make others while others are even buried under the desert sand and left for some time to cure. Each method gives each hash variety some uniqueness to serve the different preferences in the consumer market.
Jamaican Hand Hash
The term Jamaican hand hash comes from the famous Jamaican tradition of making Hash by hand, hence the name hand hash. The process basically entailed taking fresh weed buds and squeezing them by hand. Resin from the fresh buds, then builds upon the hands, it is scrapped off using a knife, and then rolled into a ball.
However, Hash has since evolved into a different type of concentrate. Instead of manually extracting trichomes by rubbing material over screens, people prefer the easier way out. The use of chemicals for extraction has become more popular. Butane and propane are the most popular solvents used in the process making it less cumbersome and quick.
Similar to Hash is live rosin. It is also made through the pressure and heat technique, but Hash's end product is a bit different. Live rosin is more sticky and runny as compare to Hash which is a solid brick or block.
Back in the day, Hash was quite famous, and it would be amazing having it back in the market. But, unfortunately, a visit around the different cannabis markets is yet to give a hash experience as good as it was back in the day.
The Hash available today does not have the same irresistible and fantastic flavor, and they appear more like pressed buttons of kief. Moreover, the potency and effects of today's Hash are not remotely close to the one you got from smoking hashish in the past.
Those who remember Hash from back in the day will definitely agree that we need it back like yesterday! The cannabis flowers, beverages, edibles, topicals, and concentrates are great for sure. However, to have some good old hash stash back would be exhilarating. In a world of many different cannabis products, we should not forget how great Hashish was!
