The 6 Most Important Cannabinoids and What are Some Benefits

Explore The 6 Most Important Cannabinoids and the Benefits

For a long time, people had the wrong idea of how Cannabis works in the human body. During the 1980s, people believed that the effects they felt after taking marijuana was due to its interactions with the cell membranes of the human body. However, in 1998, after further scientific studies, the studies revealed that marijuana affects the human brain as it has receptors meant specifically for cannabinoids.  Scientist have explored the health benefits of CBD and written many scholarly articles. What are the important cannabinoids available? While there exists about 113 cannabinoids, scientists have only come up with six of them that are actually health beneficial to the human body. We discuss them below: 1. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) From all the six important cannabinoids, THC is the most famous. This is because it forms the basic components of marijuana. For the human body, the more you consume marijuana is the more you consume THC and the more you consume THC the more you become high and intense. Generally, marijuana has about 20-25% of THC concentration. THC shows promise of providing treatment to various disorders such as neurological disorders, nausea and chronic pains. Even though there are no reported cases of THC being harmful, it is important that you do not take too much of it as it can cause adverse side effects.  THC typically stays in your body depending on how you smoke or use.2. Cannabidiol (CBD) This cannabinoid found in marijuana works as an “antagonist” to all the other cannabinoids. It makes up the largest share of concentration in marijuana by occupying about 40%. Because it fights the effects of its fellow cannabinoids, it makes it rank top of the most likely source of medical treatment. From research, scientists believe that CBD has the antipsychotic effect. When taken into the human body, it serves to undo the effects caused by marijuana. For example, CBD prevents short-term memory loss, which has THC as its main cause.  A Variety of uses for CBDs and CBD  oils such as CBD massage, high blood pressure, muscle recovery and workouts. 3. Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) THCV works the same way as CBD. It is some sort of competition where the two cannabinoids are trying to reach out to the brains receptors. THCV helps people get the medical benefits of marijuana without having to endure its unwanted side effects. 4. Cannabidivarin (CBDV) This is another non-psychoactive cannabinoid just like CBD. This aspect makes it viable as a candidate to medical research and raises the prospects of scientists finding medicinal value in marijuana. CBDV is important as it is legal meaning if it is isolated it can be used to provide medicinal value such as treating of seizures. In addition to that, the cannabinoid can help children with epilepsy. 5. Cannabigerol (CBG) This is a very important cannabinoid as it is the “mother” to all the other cannabinoids. Many people think CBG is useless but then it is not. When the marijuana plant is growing, it converts most of the CBG to other cannabinoids leaving only a little for the mature plant. CBG is helpful when it comes to digestion, relieves pain and reduces anxiety according to research. 6. Cannabichromene (CBC) Most people have never heard of this cannabinoid but it does not meant that it does not exist. If anything, it has the second highest concentration. When combined with THC, it can help provide antidepressant effects, promote neurogenesis and provide anti-inflammatory properties. Conclusion While there are about 113 cannabinoids, scientists have found six of them that are beneficial to the human body. The scientists say that if these cannabinoids are used correctly they can be able to provide medical marijuana treatment to disorders such as chronic pains, seizures and serving as anti-depressants amongst others.  Patients can get a California medical marijuana card online for high thc or cbd strains.
